Ashton Howard Biography

About Ashton Howard

Ashton Howard is a fine art painter who currently lives in Pensacola, FL. He was the oldest of three sons all born to Jerry and Rosemary Howard. He moved from Jacksonville to Pensacola in the early 1970’s with his parent so that they could start a family as well as open up their own small business. This move meant that Ashton and his brothers grew up right on the white beaches of the Gulf of Mexico and were able to play in the beautiful waters and sand that were there. They would go crabbing in the summers as well as fishing, which meant that there was never a shortage of fresh food on their tables.

Ashton always had an interest in art, ever since he was a child. He always found places to paint, draw, etc. on. His love for art was so great that in highschool he made it so that his schedule was arranged in such a way that he had art right before lunch and he was able to stay through lunch period and continue to create. This meant that he had almost three hours of time each day that he could use to create.

Upon graduation he decided to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design for a couple of years. He had a great time there despite the fact that his stay was so short - he left because it just wasn’t for him. He wanted to learn on his own. He noticed at this point that a structured environment was just not for him. It was at this point when he packed his things up and decided to move to California in the year 2001. While there he was a struggling artist for a while and worked at a surf camp teaching lessons and airbrushing surfboards. At one point he was even a street artist in Laguna Beach. During his time as a street artist, he made a gig out of selling his art painted onto rocks.

At first, he was a bit hesitant to actually sell these pieces of work but as people continued to buy them he became surprised by how many he could actually sell. And this, is where Ashton got his start. He has a unique ability to interpret nature’s beauty and power as well as a very unique style of painting; this is why he has seen such success over the past 10 years.
